Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to promote an understanding of the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
Rachel Hennessy holds a Masters degree in Social Work from UCC. She previously achieved a BA (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology and a Higher Diploma in Social Policy. More recently, Rachel qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist which is where her passion lies. Over the past 16 years, Rachel has worked as a social worker within the community supporting people across a range of emotional and practical needs. She has extensive experience working with people around bereavement, illness, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, anxiety and panic attacks to name but a few. Throughout this work, Rachel has also facilitated parenting programmes and support groups for children around their experiences of loss. She is committed to on-going training and professional development. Rachel is pre-accredited with APCP.
Rachel is an integrative therapist, with particular focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. CBT promotes an understanding of the relationship between a persons thoughts, feelings and behaviour. By creating an awareness of these connections, Rachel works collaboratively with the client to support them in making positive changes in their lives. As Rachel believes each persons experiences are unique to them, she adapts her approach to suit each individuals needs. This is done through the use of additional approaches to therapy including Mindfulness CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
