Solution-focused, strengths-based therapy to create positive change in your life.

Rita graduated from University College Cork in 2010 with a master’s degree in social work. She continued her education at Capella University where she studied psychopathology and trained as a psychotherapist. Rita is a licensed clinical social worker with the Florida Board of Health and is a registered accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).

While living in the United States, Rita worked with families providing counselling for children and teenagers both at home and in schools. She also worked in private practice with individuals, couples, and families. Rita continues to now work privately with clients in Ireland.

Rita’s work is primarily solution-focused therapy. Using a strength-based approach she does not focus on the problem, but instead her approach is to work with clients’ strengths and resources to create positive change. This intervention is brief and goal oriented.

In working with clients Rita offers a safe, trusting, non-judgmental, compassionate space, to help clients discover solutions, resolve conflicts, and to strengthen and deepen the relationships in their lives.

Rita specializes in marriage counselling, couples counselling and individual counselling. She has great success working with clients with a wide range of presenting issues including divorce adjustment, life transitions, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and more.

Alongside her private practice, Rita provides telehealth services for American veterans. She is also continuing her professional development by training to become a Gottman certified therapist; this is a type of cognitive behavioural therapy for couples.
